Shopping for jeans

Published by tglisman at 6:01 pm under just another day Edit This

I guess I have an odd body shape.  For years I would buy jeans and have to take up the legs which are always too wide for my legs.  If I bought them to fit my legs I could not fit them over my tummy and hips.  I tried Women’s jeans and I tried Misses jeans but it was the same problem each time.  Jeans must be designed by men who think all women have tiny waist.  Women who have to wear them know better.  I admit I could lose a few pounds off the waist and hips but hey that’s not easy to do.  My Grandmother was shaped the same way and she passed the shape down to me.

Recently my oldest daughter gave me a pair of jeans she did not like.  I was shocked when I tried them on for they fit!  The legs were perfect, the hips were perfect, and so was the waist.  I could not believe it, I finally had in my hands a pair of jeans that fit my body.  When I looked inside for the tag I got even more of a shock.  They were junior jeans.  I am not going to tell my real age but I will say I am over forty.  I was so upset that I tossed them into the back of the closet.  I am too old to wear junior jeans I thought.

Later on my daughter asked me if I could wear the jeans.  When I told her I was too old to wear junior jeans she laughed at me.  “Mom who is going to know?” she asked.  She also told me that I should be proud I can fit in the junior size.

I now shop for jeans in the junior section but I am careful to only buy plain jeans.  I am still too old for the jeans covered in glitter.
