Peace and Quite

Published by tglisman at 8:24 pm under Living in the South Edit This

I was sitting outside today just enjoying the peace and quite when something unusual happened.  It got too peaceful and too quite.  It was as if the whole world just stopped.  There were no birds singing, no insect noise, and no traffic noise.  The complete lack of sound was awesome yet weird.  It only lasted for a few seconds but it was long enough to make me feel intensely lonely to the point that I had to call a friend.  I just needed to have human contact to reassure myself that I was not the only person left on earth.

There are times in this busy world we live in that we need some quite time.  We all need to take time to relax in quietness, listen to nothing but nature, and think.  Too many of us (me included) let the TV and computer take up our thinking time.  I know I need to exercise my brain more than I do.  It is not just the body that gets lazy and out of shape.  But when we have that quite time we still want to hear something even if it is only a bee or a bird.  There is a lot of fear in feeling you are the only breathing thing left on Earth.
