Waiting On Dinner
While driving back from town today I was admiring the nice trimmed yards, pretty flowers and thinking that soon the trees would be in full color. I passed an Ice Cream truck on the way that was surrounded by children. Further on I passed a farm where they raise beef cows and goats. About a quarter mile from there is another small farm with beautiful green pastures. As I was admiring the cows, and baby calves I noticed black shapes on the fence posts up ahead. When I got closer I could tell they were vultures. They were sitting together, side by side on five fence posts. They were all intensely eyeing me as if I was on the dinner menu. One even had his wings spread out as if he was about to swoop into the car and grab me. He would only be able to plop down because he was way too chunky to fly. I know this is ridiculous because they only eat dead animals but the creepy feeling remains even now. It is also a little sad to think they are waiting on something to die so they can eat.
