Robertson Road (part 4)
One night while in bed I felt what I thought was the cat jump onto the bed. I reached down the pet him but did not feel him near me. I rose up on my elbow to see where he was thinking he may have cuddled up against my husband. The light from the bathroom gave the room enough light for me to see the entire bed was empty. Other than my husband and myself there was nothing on the bed.
I lay back and tried to go to sleep while telling myself it had to have been my imagination. Just as I was almost asleep the cover began to slide to the floor. Thinking my husband must be pushing it off with his feet, which he sometimes does, I sat up again to pull it back. I pulled the cover back up and tried once more to go to sleep. As soon as I got comfortable the cover goes sliding down. This little game went on for well over an hour and happened many times while we lived in the house.
Another night I went to bed while my husband stayed up to watch the end of a movie. I had only been asleep a few minutes when I felt someone caressing my back. Assuming it was my husband I rolled over and opened my eyes to find there was no one there.
During the night I had a nightmare of a monster that lived in the basement tearing my children to pieces and devouring them. The very next morning, over breakfast, my youngest daughter told me she had a nightmare about a monster in the basement. I then told her about my nightmare and how glad I was we did not have a basement. I think my heart stopped beating when she told me we did have a basement and there was a small door to it on the side of the house. That side of the house was covered with vines and high grass which kept the door hidden until my child found it.
