Creepy Insect Invastion

If you read my blogs then you know I am deathly afraid of spiders.  I appreciative that spiders have a purpose in nature.  I do not want them close to the house.  I especially do not want them inside the house.  If they get inside then I kill them and I don’t feel guilty about it at all.  When they build their webs around the house then I try to move them closer to the woods.  This is not an easy task because spiders tend to crawl and the only highway they see is my arm.

In one day alone I moved nine spiders from around the outside of the house.  Four of them were what we call writing spiders.  They are huge black and yellow spiders who build very large webs.  I could not even go out the back door because one of them had built her web completely across the back storm door.  I did not see one of the others until I had leaned over to turn on the hose and put my face into the web. The other five were wood spiders.  They are big, hairy and very sneaky.  They hide in cracks, or under the roof edges.  On the outside of our bathroom window was an egg sack the size of a quarter. I destroyed the egg sack and took down the webs with the broom.

Now we have a problem with scorpions getting inside the house.  One day last week my son and his wife woke to find a live scorpion in their bed.  Fortunately they were not stung.  I killed two yesterday and the dogs killed one today.

We also have centipedes inside the house and we even had a lizard get in somehow.

We spray poison outside and Defender inside but it does not help.  We are still being over whelmed with insects.

Alien Abduction Signs

Published by tglisman under The Paranormal Edit This

I found a website on the internet where they list 54 signs of being abducted by aliens.  I am going to list a few of them here.  The ones that listed below are some that I have experienced as I am sure most people have at one time in their lives except for one.  That one exception is the full on light shining into the bedroom.

If you have ever woke to find mysterious bruises, marks, or scars. If you find blood on your pillow, sheet, spread, etc… with no signs of an open wound or nose bleed. If you have hear humming sounds or loud bangs no one else can hear, especially prior to sleep.  Others include; unexplained medical problems, sinus conditions or migraines, nightmares of UFO’s, psychic abilities, unable to move while in bed, dreams of flying, a feeling of having a mission, phobias, back or neck problems, an unexplained bright light shining into your bedroom window, and nose bleeds. If electrical oddities occur around you such as street lights that go out as you go under them.  Another sign is an unexplained feeling of panic or anxiety. Many people suffer from these conditions but when you put them all together it is a different story.  I have only listed a few of the signs here because I felt these were the most important ones.  Are we being abducted by aliens or just suffering from normal conditions?  It is something to think about anyway.  I like to keep an open mind and think anything is possible.

No Trick-Or-Treaters

Published by tglisman under just another day Edit This

Each year I buy about five large bags of candy for Halloween.  I always buy the candy that we like because we usually have to eat it all.  The kids in the neighborhood do not come to our house for trick-or-treat.  The reason they do not come to our house is simple.   The whole neighborhood is afraid of our dogs.  There are three of them, they are all big, and they bark and growl.  I think there is a competition between the dogs to see who can scare visitors the most.  Of course with one of them being a pit that is reason enough to be scared.  When people find out Coca is a pit-bull they will not even get out of their car.  So each Halloween I put all the candy in a large bowl and put it on the front porch.  If it is not too cold I will sit on the porch and wait for the kids.  If it is cold then I wait in the living room.  I always have decorations leading up to the door, candles burning, and the light on.  I make it as welcome as I possible can but it is no use.  The few times kids came they were new to the neighborhood and did not know about the dogs.  The dogs are always shut up inside the house but they still scare the kids. One year I put up a baby gate to keep them in the den but they broke it down and came rushing to the front door.  The kids ran off screaming as if the devil himself was after them. If the kids only knew the dogs just want to play with them.  They love kids so much and will not hurt them.

I hope it is different this year but I suppose we will be eating a lot of Snickers, Mike and Ike, and M & M’s.

Trick Or Treat

Published by tglisman under Ghost around us Edit This

When I was growing up my family did not go trick-or-treating.  We went to a Halloween Carnival at my school one year.  Other than that one time we just stayed at home on Halloween.  My little brother, sister, and I were not allowed to go out on Halloween. When the kids at school talked about their costumes I would not say anything.  On Halloween night my Mom would turn out all the lights and we would watch TV.  If anyone knocked Mom would tell us to stay put and not answer the door.  When I asked Mom why we did not go trick-or-treating she told me it was too much trouble.

One Halloween when I was 14 years old I spent the week-end with my Grandmother.  On Halloween she asked me if I was going trick-or-treating.  Since this was my Mom’s mother I had always assumed she did not approve of trick-or-treating anymore than my Mom did.  I told Granny I would love to go and she called two of my cousins to go with me.  Between the cousins and Granny they came up with a costume for me.  I was so excited I could not stand still.

My cousins and I walked for hours, going from house to house.  We collected bags of candy and had so much fun.  Only one time did anyone ask me if I was too old to be out trick-or-treating?  When I told the lady it was my first time to ever go she said “bless your heart”.  She also gave me extra candy.  It was a truly wonderful night for me.

When my children were old enough to go trick-or-treating I took them each year.  Now they take their children.  I don’t care about the “real meaning of Halloween” or what it is based on.  To me it is fun and kids should have fun in their lives.  They are introduced to the real world soon enough.

Troup County Racism

Published by tglisman under just another day Edit This

When we have the election in November we will also be voting for sheriff of our county.  The current sheriff, Donnie Turner, has been in office for two terms and is running for reelection.  Running against him is Larry Harris, a former deputy of Troup County.  When Mr. Harris filed to run for sheriff he filed as a Democrat.  He was then disqualified for not turning in his school records even though they were on record at the Troup County sheriff’s department.  He paid $3000.00 to run and did not receive his money back.  He then filed to run as an Independent and was told he has already qualified to run as a democrat but because he had not turned in his records could not run.  Does any of this make any sense? Mr. Harris then filed an appeal and the court decided he could collect signatures and if he could get 3000 he could run as an independent.  Mr. Harris got more than enough signatures to run but was told he could not run again.  Our Probate Judge decided there was a problem with the way the signatures were collected.  Mr. Harris appealed again and as of now he will be on the ballot in November.  This week information has come out that our current sheriff did not file his school records when he ran either time.  Judge Boyd and Sheriff Turner do not want Mr. Harris to run in the election because he is a black man.  They are scared he will receive all the black votes and win.  What would scare them even more is the fact that many, many white people will vote for Mr. Harris.  Mr. Harris is an honest person who really cares about the people of Troup County.  My entire family will be giving our vote to Mr. Harris come November.

Wires

Published by tglisman under just another day Edit This

Back before we got a Microwave we only had a few things that required a plug in.  We had the usual lamps, stove, refrigerator, TV, fan, and a clock radio.  Those were the only things plugged into sockets in our entire house. Then we received the Microwave as a Christmas gift. That was only the beginning.  We now have a house over flowing with wires.  We then got a VCR, surround sound system, DVD players, a DVD recorder, computers, modems, routers, stereos, satellite TVs, and cordless phones.  Our light bill is double what it used to be in a good month.  During the summer it is three times the amount of the good old days.  The other day while I was blow drying my hair, and the microwave was running we over loaded the circuit breaker.  I had to go reset the cable modem, router, and the phone box.  When I looked behind the Entertainment Center to unplug the wires I saw what looked like thousands of wires.  Until they were all reset we had no internet or phone.  It was like that for three hours until my son got home and fixed them. I am not a tech savvy person to start with and faced with that challenge I turned chicken.  When I hear the term “wire less” I get a wishful distant look on my face.  I hope one day we will truly be wireless.

Heard County Spook Light

Published by tglisman under The Paranormal Edit This

There is a road in Heard County, Georgia near the Corinth community where people have seen mysterious spook lights for years.  When I was a little girl my Grandmother told me some scientist went to the road and declared it to be swamp gas.  The only problem with that theory is there is no swamp in the area.  There have been numerous UFO sightings in the area over the years.  The road used to be a dirt road and was very popular with teens as a ghost hunting outing.  It was paved about ten years ago but it is still a very spooky road.  My ex-husband refused to believe there was a spook light in the area.  One night when we left from a visit to my cousin’s house he decided to put the issue to rest by driving out the road and parking on the roadside.  We sat in the car for about ten minutes with nothing happening.  We began to argue about the existence of the light when the entire inside of the car became as light as day.  We looked through the windshield and there in the sky was a round white light.  It looked as if the moon was about to land on our car.  My ex got the car running, turned around, and back out on the main road in about five seconds flat.  He was white faced and shaking.  I went to the road another night with some friends who were also unbelievers.  While sitting in the car we could hear noises in the trunk and under the car.  The light did not appear that night but the noises were enough to scare them into believing something weird was going on. That road has made a believer out of many unbelievers.

Our Frightful Halloween Entrance

Published by tglisman under just another day Edit This

When you visit our house during the month of October you will get a fright.  You pull into the driveway past hanging ghosts, goblins, and witches.  A sign directs you to either the graveyard or the treats.  You exit your car and walk past bloody bones, torn clothing, and eyeballs floating in a witch’s pot. Head stones slam open and blood curdling screams greet you.  A hideous skull sits on a table and laughs at your fear. You look up to see skeletons hanging from the rafters and cobwebs with fat spiders line the way.  Spooky mysterious lights float around you causing chill bumps along your spine.  A half chewed bloody sign warns you to beware before you enter.  You look to your right and see a headless man slumped in a chair.  On a table beside him is a bowl of candy but you must get past the amputated hand to reach it.  By this time your fear has overwhelmed your hunger and you have the urge to run for your life but you must go on.  Ice settles in your belly as you open the creaking door and face the most terrible fear of your life; three large, drooling, hairy creatures.  You are face to face with your worse fear.  They are THE DOGS!!! You will exit with fear, covered with drool and hair. You will race to safety from the most terrible monsters to ever roam the earth.  They will watch you with grins of evil.  You glance back as your heart pounds while the creatures ask each other; why are people so afraid of our kisses.

Scared Silly

Published by tglisman under just another day Edit This

We went on the Haunted Hayride and Maze last night and I am sorry to say I was not brave at all.  I think I screamed the whole time we were there.  My husband says he has nerve damage in his hand where I was gripping it so hard.  To say it was scary is an understatement. It was literally the best Haunted attraction I have ever been to in my life.  I also laughed my head off at some of the stunts they did like the ghouls dancing to the Michael Jackson song Thriller in a graveyard.  I was chased by Michael Myers and stalked by Jason.  At one point while riding on the wagon we were chased by the Texas Chain saw murderers.  It sounds dorky but it was very realistic.  We then got off the wagon and had to walk through the woods following a man with a lantern.  All kinds of monsters jumped out at us while howls, loud bangs, and strobe lights lit the woods.  We then came to the maze.  This was a very large, long building which had no lights on inside.  In some areas we had to find our way by running our hands along the walls until we felt a door.  Creepy spider webs trailed over our faces and many doors led to nowhere.  We would round a corner and a dim light would come on just long enough to let us see a monster, Jason, Michael, witch, or ghost.  At one time I was running in place and screaming while a monster revved a chainsaw at us.  I now have more pity for people in the horror movies.  Sometimes fear overrules common sense.

Haunted Hayride And Maze

Published by tglisman under just another day Edit This

Tonight we are going to a haunted hayride and maze in West Point.  It has been years since I have went to a carnival, hayride or anything else during the season of Halloween.  I am so excited to be going, like a kid would be.  I have picked out my clothes for tonight after trying on outfit after outfit.  I have my cell phone charged, gas in the car, and a warm sweater to fight the chill.  Tonight I get to meet Michael and Jason.  For a little while I will be in my own horror movie.  Well I can pretend anyway. So this is my horror movie and here is what I will and will not be doing.  If you are there you won’t see me running while looking backward, stepping over the body, or screaming while they advance toward me.  I won’t do drugs, get frisky, or say no one is out there.  If I pick up a weapon I will not put it down until it is pried out of my cold dead hands by someone stronger than me.  I will not breathe hard, whimper, or move around while hiding from the killers.  I will not be wearing high heels or backing up to a window.  I will not turn on a flash light and I will not trust anyone.  I will not go into a basement, attic, or dark cave for any amount of money.  I don’t care what is down or up there.  Nope, not curious one bit.  I will use my brain, feet, hands, elbows, knees, feet, and anything else that can be a weapon.  I will be the one who makes it out alive and you will not see me in the sequel.
