Wires

Published by tglisman at 4:31 pm under just another day Edit This

Back before we got a Microwave we only had a few things that required a plug in.  We had the usual lamps, stove, refrigerator, TV, fan, and a clock radio.  Those were the only things plugged into sockets in our entire house. Then we received the Microwave as a Christmas gift. That was only the beginning.  We now have a house over flowing with wires.  We then got a VCR, surround sound system, DVD players, a DVD recorder, computers, modems, routers, stereos, satellite TVs, and cordless phones.  Our light bill is double what it used to be in a good month.  During the summer it is three times the amount of the good old days.  The other day while I was blow drying my hair, and the microwave was running we over loaded the circuit breaker.  I had to go reset the cable modem, router, and the phone box.  When I looked behind the Entertainment Center to unplug the wires I saw what looked like thousands of wires.  Until they were all reset we had no internet or phone.  It was like that for three hours until my son got home and fixed them. I am not a tech savvy person to start with and faced with that challenge I turned chicken.  When I hear the term “wire less” I get a wishful distant look on my face.  I hope one day we will truly be wireless.
