Wonderful Morning

Published by tglisman at 8:00 pm under just another day Edit This

I woke to the sound of crows singing to each other this morning.  With a smile on my face I slipped out of bed and reached for my robe and slippers.  The smile dropped off my face when I could not find one of the slippers. It wasn’t under the bed or any where else in the bedroom. With a shrug I walked barefoot into the kitchen for coffee.  I smiled as I sipped the hot coffee.  I grabbed a donut hole and headed to the den.  As I walked into the room I stepped on a hard dog chew.  I lost my balance and fell at the same time dumping my hot coffee over my legs.  While I lay on the floor in a pool of coffee I discovered my lost slipper peaking from under the chair.  It looked sad sitting there covered in dog drool.

I took a shower, dressed in dry clothes, and went back for a new cup of coffee.  I smiled as I sat down at my computer.  Just as I was checking my emails the power went off.  The dogs discovered the UPS van was in the driveway and the phone started to ring.  The caller wanted to know if I wanted a lower credit card rate while I signed the UPS paper and kept the dogs from pushing the door open.  I smiled as I walked to the mail box.  When I got back inside the dogs had knocked over the trash. Coffee grounds were on the carpet, sofa, and even the wall.  The phone was ringing again while my daughter complained the sink was stopped up. The day went down hill from there. That night I decided I needed to do one of two things.  Either stop smiling or stop getting out of bed
