What Life is Like Living in a Haunted House

Published by tglisman at 11:25 am under Ghost around us Edit This

Most of the time living in a haunted house is just like living in a normal house.  It is not like we see a ghost each day of the week.  We even forget it is haunted until we see a dark creeping shadow or a door opens all by its self.  We have creepy things happen but they are just not on a daily basis…more like about two or three times a month.  Weird things happen more during cold weather for some reason.  I have been told it is because of static electrically but don’t quote me on that.  Let me say it is not a bad haunting.  In fact the ghost here are quite nice and gentle in a way.

My daughter, Daisy, who also lives here, refuses to admit the house is haunted even though she saw a ghost one night about a year ago. Daisy was sitting in the living room watching TV with her brother when she felt someone watching her.  When Daisy turned her gaze to the hall she was shocked to see a strange woman staring intently at her.  The woman looked to be in her thirties and was dressed in antebellum attire.  It appeared the woman was standing in Daisy’s bedroom but leaning partially out the doorway.  Daisy only saw her for a few seconds until the woman disappeared.  Now Daisy thinks she was just overly tired and seeing things.  She is in denial because she does not want the house to be haunted.

We think there are four ghosts here; two women, a man, and a child.  We think one of the women died in the house while the others are haunting the land which used to be an old plantation.  The house is only thirteen years old but we are the fifth family to own the house.  The plantation of the other hand dates back to before the civil war. The plantation house fell in years ago and the land where the house stood is now for sale.

Orbs over daughter

The most active parts of the house are the laundry room, the den, and the kitchen.  The same ghost who was in the hall has also been seen in the den and laundry room by three other people.  We used the den for a bedroom for the first two years we owned the house but no one would sleep in there for more than a few days at a time.

Family photos taken in the house and the yard have orbs on them.  Two of my Granddaughters have seen a black shadow person walk through the living room.  Something grabbed one Granddaughter by the arm and whispered her name while she was making a sandwich in the kitchen.  While on the computer one morning out of the corner of my eye I saw movement.  This happens a lot and usually when I turn my head nothing is there but this day there was something.  A glimmering shiny light was moving down the wall.  I watched it for about ten seconds until it just vanished.  Something unseen rubbed my back while I was outside walking the dog.  It was almost as if they were saying; its ok, I know you are tired.  These are just some of the spooky things going on here.

These things happen and we just have an attitude of; oh well, what ever.  They don’t hurt us; they are not evil so they really do not cause a problem.  After living in haunted houses with really evil spiteful spirits this is a picnic.  I guess in a way I kind of feel sorry for the ghosts.  What can we do anyway?  We love the house and don’t want to move.  We don’t want anyone attempting to force the ghosts out of the house.  Sometimes that makes things worse and we don’t want that to happen.  As long as they don’t bother us we won’t bother them plus it gives me something to blog about.

Yes we have learned to live with them. I am glad they are nice too. If they were not we would have to move out and let them have it.
