Date With a Duck
During the two years I lived in Columbus, Georgia I would go out to clubs with girlfriends. There would usually be three or four of us in our group. We felt it was safer to go out in numbers. It also took out the strain of meeting someone who just insisted on driving us home. This way if we met someone we liked we would give them our phone number and take it slow. I was a very careful who I dated so this was perfect for me.
One night we had plans to go to the Country Palace where the band members were friends of mine. A radio station was covering the club that night also and their mascot was a duck. We had only been there a few minutes when in walks a duck. He was about six feet two inches tall and yellow. I turned to one of my friends and said “I thought I saw a Tweety Bird, I did, I did” and we all got a big laugh out of that. The big grin dropped off my face when the duck came to our table and took my hand. In a goofy duck voice he asked me to dance and surprising even myself I said yes. He was an expert dancer who knew the right way to hold a woman when dancing. After the dance was over he steered me to an empty table. I gave my amused friends a look, shrugged, and sat down with the duck. For the next three hours we held an interesting conversation even though he continued to talk in duck talk. We danced many dances and even had some drinks. He had to drink from a straw, which as the time went by, became kind of cute. We parted that night; me to go home with my friends and he to duck world. I never saw the real person under the duck suit nor did I ever learn his name. It was a night of living in a fairy tail and a night I will never forget.

LOL!!! Love your stories. You and I both write about the same kind of stuff - everyday life things. I dated a duck once, but this quack came from Southern Illinois, might have been from the same “flock” though. I’m still laughing!
