The Troup County, Georgia Tax Commissioner recently learned he is going to lose one half an employee. Needless to say he was very unhappy to learn this distressing news. I can understand how he feels. He needs all the help he can get to rip off the citizens of Troup County. Our taxes when up by almost $500.00 for last year and the only improvement we made was to cut down a few trees. I planted some flowers in the yard so I expect them to go again.
Mr. Commissioner then had the nerve to ask the County to pay for a lawyer so that he could sue them over losing the one half employee. They turned him down of course due to a conflict of interest. I can’t help but wonder which half of the employee he is losing; the top half, bottom half, or side half.

Have you ever noticed how quickly we forget every reason we didn’t like someone when they get sick or die. So many people who did not like or respect Michael Jackson are now morning his death. Comments like; he is such a pervert, or he is a sick man, have now become; oh he was the greatest singer, or he was so talented.
All the news stations are reporting nothing much except the death of Jackson. You can almost see the drool running from their lips. Oh the excitement they must be feeling to have such juicy news for the public. Watch for the rumors to start up on how he died. The news stations will find anyone who wants to give us their suspicions. Look for nannies, hair dressers, and even the mail man to come forward with their theories from murder, suicide, heart attack, to drugs.
I just hope Michael finds the peace in death he never seemed to find in life. My prayers go out to his family. I also have a message for the family; get prepared to have your loved one raked over the coals. Turn off your TV, turn to each other, and wait it out. It won’t be long until something else is breaking news.

We switched from cable to Dish Network in 2006. We were very unhappy with our cable service at the time. We had very few channels and a fuzzy picture. Each time I called the cable company I got a menu which directed me to check the lines. One day I just lost it; I screamed into the phone so much the neighbors came outside. I decided to check into satellite TV. We felt we would get the best deal with Dish Network which had a local dealer near us. When I talked to the dealer I was surprised at the many channels we would get with our package. I signed the two year contract and they installed the equipment a few days later. The day before they were due to install Dish I called the cable company. When I got the menu I pushed the number for disconnecting service and wouldn’t you know it; I got a real live person for the first time. They only want to talk to you when they are about to lose you.
Recently my daughter asked if we could get the upgrade so we would be able to record our favorite show; Supernatural. I called Dish and got a woman in India who barely spoke English. She stated we would have to sign another two year contract, pay $25.00 by credit card, a cost of $5.99 added each month, and if we had our Dish cut off before the two years contract ended we would be charged $300.00 on our credit card. After 45 minutes of talking to her and saying huh about a hundred times she told me she could not talk to me because my name was not on the account! She then went over the whole speech with my husband who told her to add me to the account.
Three days later we receive our new box by UPS. I opened the box and found the instructions plus a contract not only with Dish but also with AT&T. I put the instructions and the contract back in the box, called my little Indian friend and told her they would be getting their box back by UPS. I also told her to cancel the new upgrade. Nice try Dish Network but I fell off the turnip truck a week ago, not yesterday.
